Hearing Aid Specialist Ranked Among the Best Jobs for 2025
U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) included hearing aid specialist in several of its 2025 best-jobs lists, the International Hearing Society (IHS) reported. The January 14 ranking drew on US Bureau of Labor Statistics employment reports and projections. IHS characterized the occupation as a relatively accessible route into a field with growing demand.
2025 rankings
USNWR ranked hearing aid specialist eighth among the best jobs without a college degree. The report examined the same set of occupations as its 2024 rankings, selected for their projected numbers and percentages of job openings from 2023 to 2033 under Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates. It listed the occupation in five categories:
- No. 20 among high-paying jobs without a degree;
- No. 8 among the best jobs without a college degree;
- No. 22 among the best health-care jobs;
- No. 36 among STEM jobs; and
- No. 69 among the overall 100 best jobs.
The International Hearing Society's view
IHS describes itself as a professional association supporting the education and development of hearing-care practitioners. Its president, Michael Andreozzi, welcomed the multiple rankings. He said demand for hearing-care professionals was rising and that specialists help people evaluate their hearing and navigate available care options. He encouraged people interested in helping others, working with new technology and earning a living to consider the profession.
IHS executive director Alissa Parady said demand for qualified practitioners and an apprenticeship-based training path make the occupation an option for people who do not want a four-year university program or who are changing careers. She emphasized the personal meaning of helping clients reconnect with family, improve health and communicate at work.
